How to invest in the Ghana Stock Exchange
How do you invest in the Ghana Stock Exchange?
The Ghana Stock Exchange is where listed shares in Ghana are traded. The exchange's own guide says those securities are bought and sold only through Licensed Dealing Members, also called stockbrokers. You do not invest by sending money to the exchange itself.
Yanci does not take the order. When investing launches, orders will go through Teak Tree Brokerage. Check that firm, and any other firm, on the live lists below before you send money.
The longer account-by-account version is How to buy shares on the Ghana Stock Exchange. The short lesson is How to invest in the Ghana Stock Exchange.
What are you investing in?
A listed share is a piece of a company. What is a stock? explains what that does and does not mean. Some companies pay a dividend. Many do not, and a dividend can be skipped. A share price can fall, and you can get back less than you paid.
A treasury bill is a short-term government borrowing, not a share. What is a T-bill in Ghana? explains the instrument and does not quote a rate. The latest saved auction, with its date, is on Ghana treasury bill rates this week.
What should you read before an order?
Know what the company sells and who pays it. Know the business you invest in is the checklist. Company pages show figures from Ghana Stock Exchange filings, each with its period. Compare places peers side by side. None of those pages says what to buy or sell.
Today's market shows saved prices. A price on this site can be delayed. The exchange's own trading and data pages are the official list.
How do you check the broker?
The Ghana Stock Exchange publishes the current list of Licensed Dealing Members. The Securities and Exchange Commission publishes its own list of licensed broker-dealers. Look the firm up on both lists. Seeing a name in an advertisement does not mean the firm is licensed. This page does not rank brokers.
What can Yanci do today?
Yanci is not a broker and cannot open an account or buy shares for you yet. The lessons and the company pages stay free. If you live outside Ghana, eligibility depends on the country and is still being confirmed. The general steps are on Invest from abroad.

Frequently asked questions
How do you invest in the Ghana Stock Exchange?
For listed shares, open a securities account with a Licensed Dealing Member and place an order through that broker. The exchange is where those shares are traded. It is not a shop you visit.
Does this page say which share to buy?
No. It explains the route onto the exchange. It does not name a share to buy, sell or hold.
Is a treasury bill the same as a share on the exchange?
No. A treasury bill is a loan to the government. A share is a piece of a company. The rates page shows the latest saved auction and does not recommend a bill.
