How to invest in Ghana from the United Kingdom
Read the residency limit
The Ghana Stock Exchange rules page says, as of 1 November 2026, that non-resident foreign investors may only hold debt securities of 2 years or longer. Whether a Ghanaian citizen living in the United Kingdom is in that group depends on residency. Yanci is still confirming it. The page that already answers the broader UK search is How to invest in Ghana from the US or UK. This page is the UK route only.
Open the account through a licensed broker
Use the Ghana Stock Exchange list and the SEC broker-dealer list. Ask what they accept from a UK address. Share-buying steps are in How to buy shares on the Ghana Stock Exchange.
Ask how a payment that starts in pounds reaches cedis, and what you would receive back in the UK if you later sold or were paid a dividend. This page does not name a transfer service and does not quote an FX spread.
Ask a tax professional about the UK–Ghana treaty
GOV.UK publishes tax treaties between the UK and Ghana, the double taxation agreement and the documents that sit with it. That page was read on 1 November 2026. Whether it changes the tax on a dividend or a gain depends on your circumstances. This page does not apply it, and it does not tell you to claim a relief. Speak to a tax professional. Dividends explains the Ghana yield table and says a withholding percent is not stored here.
